Coaching for Laramie United
All Travel and Intramural coaches must use the below link to register as a coach for the 2026/2027 soccer season. Please complete the background check and concussion awareness course as well as the SafeSport training. The concussion awareness course is to be completed every two years.
GotSoccer has been completely revamped and you now will only need one account for all of your roles (coach, referee, parent, player). You will need to create a new account if you have not yet done so. Here are instructions on creating an account. Once you have an account and have registered as a coach, you can log into GotSport, go to your dashboard (click on your photo on the upper left side of the page) and find the links to complete your certifications.
Kirsten Cushman, Executive Director — kirsten@laramiesoccer.org
Kirsten Cushman brings more than fifteen years of leadership, management, and business experience to Laramie Soccer Club, along with a strong background in soccer operations and sports administration. Most recently serving as the club’s Director of Coaching, Kirsten has worked closely with players, coaches, and families and has developed a deep appreciation for the positive impact soccer can have on young athletes and the broader community.
Kirsten pursued a Sports Industry & Operations degree with a minor in Marketing from Metropolitan State University in Denver. Her studies focused on sports administration, event and venue operations, sports marketing, promotion, and media operations. She gained professional soccer experience with the Colorado Rapids, Colorado Rapids Academy, and Colorado Rapids Women, where she worked in marketing, game-day operations, travel coordination, tryout operations, and practice support.
As Executive Director of Laramie Soccer Club, Kirsten oversees the club’s daily business operations, program administration, and community partnerships. Her focus is on building a stable, sustainable, and accessible organization that supports coaches and allows them to concentrate on developing players and creating positive experiences on and off the field.
Outside of soccer, Kirsten is the owner and president of Insurance Unlimited, where she continues a family legacy of serving the people and businesses of Laramie. She is also actively involved in local organizations and enjoys supporting initiatives that strengthen opportunities for local youth and families.
A Laramie native, Kirsten is proud to give back to the community that helped shape her. She and her husband, Miles, are both lifelong Laramie residents and are grateful to be raising their two children in their hometown. Kirsten’s passion for soccer, youth development, and community service continues to guide her work as she helps build a strong future for Laramie Soccer Club.
Kim Whisenant, Director of Coaching — kim@laramiesoccer.org
Kim holds a USSF "A" License and a Premier Diploma from United Soccer Coaches, and she has coached at the collegiate, high school, club, and Olympic Development levels for nearly three decades. She played four seasons at North Carolina State University, where the Wolfpack reached three NCAA Tournaments and advanced to the national quarterfinals during her senior season. Kim went on to play for the semi professional Baltimore Lady Bays and the Maryland Pride, winning a national championship in 1996. Her collegiate coaching career includes assistant coaching positions at the University of Wyoming, Tulane University, East Tennessee State University, and the University of Utah, along with years of work identifying and training Wyoming's Olympic Development Program state teams and serving on the Region IV staff.
At Laramie High School Kim led the girls program to the 2016 Class 4A state championship and a runner-up finish the following year, and she returned to that program as head coach in 2024. In 2024, the girls soccer team finished in third place at state and were Regional Champions. In 2026, the girls soccer team were conference champions, finalists at state and Kim was nominated Coach of the year.
As Director of Coaching, Kim is responsible for the standard of play across the entire club. That means coach education and mentorship, the training curriculum, player evaluations, team formation, and consistent application of our four pillars of development — possession habits, attacking principles, transition, and defending principles — from our youngest teams through U19. The age group player qualities our coaches work from are built on those pillars, and Kim's charge is to make certain that a player at U10 and a player at U15 are developed against the same standards, taught in the same language, on every team in the club. Kim and her husband Matt have lived in Laramie for more than twenty years and raised their family here, with both of their children coming up through Laramie soccer.
