📖 How Best 3rd Place Works

With 12 groups, every group produces a 3rd-place team — but only 8 of those 12 advance to the Round of 32. After all groups finish, FIFA ranks all twelve 3rd-place finishers by their record (points → goal difference → goals scored) and the top 8 move on.

Your job here: First, make sure you've picked a 3rd-place team for each group above. Then for each of the 8 slots below, pick which group's 3rd-place team you think will be one of the 8 that advance. You earn ½ point for each slot you get right.

Example: If you think Group C's 3rd-place team (Brazil's group) will be one of the best 8 third-place teams, assign Group C to one of the slots. If they actually advance, you get ½ point for that slot.

⚡ Penalty Shootout Rule: If the Final goes to penalties, the winning team is awarded +1 goal for the shootout victory. So a match tied 3–3 after 90 minutes that Team A wins on penalties becomes 4–3. If you predicted 4–3 with Team A winning, that's the closest score — you win the tiebreaker.
